Shawn Artman new Machine Shop Supervisor

Congratulations to Shawn Artman who will be assuming the mantle of Machine Shop Supervisor.  Shawn has over twenty years of machining experience, the last eight of which are with Pitt, and has served in various supervisory and leadership roles throughout his career.  I am confident he will provide a steady hand and continue to offer the outstanding service you have come to expect from the shop.  A special thanks to Tom and Dave Emala for helping to sift through our talented and deep pool for this position.  Tom will remain in the shop through 4/11 to assist with the transition.

Welcome Fontaine!

Fontaine McFeaters joins Shared Research Support Services as our new NMR assistant!  Fontaine received her BS in Chemistry from Gettysburg College in 2019 and comes to us from contract work as an Analytical Chemist at PPG.  In the Chemistry Instrumentation Center and beyond, Fontaine will be responsible for NMR maintenance and the training of our vast NMR user base.  Welcome Fontaine!

Welcome Dr. Sergei Sheludiakov

Dr. Sergei Sheludiakov has join Shared Research Support Services and the Department of Physics as our new Director of Cryogenics.  Sergei will oversee our helium recovery program and coordinate with our condensed matter physics researchers to design and maintain our fleet of cryostats and dilution refrigerators and work to bring new technologies and techniques to their research.  Dr. Sheludiakov comes to us from the Lee and Khmelenko labs at Texas A&M and obtained his PhD at the University of Turku in Finland with Dr. Sergey Vasiliev.  Welcome aboard Sergei!
